1/17/2013 I've moved more times than I'd like to think. I HATE moving. And I trust most movers as much as I trust used car salesmen. And then there is Safe Movers. They moved me on very short notice and did not flinch at the amount of stuff involved. Their employees -- packers and movers -- were the most polite and kind moving company workers that I've ever used. They worked with great speed AND care, never got frustrated as I was stressing out.
I never thought I'd use the word "Zen" and "movers" in one sentence, but Nick -- the owner -- has got to be the most zen movers ever. One of the most impressing things about him is that his employees all seemed to really care about him, and a lot of them are long-standing employees. Loyalty on both sides of the equation says a lot.
In any case, I've been recommending them to everyone I know. A rare find.

1/17/2013 Moving in a time crunch is not fun nor easy to find someone right away. I called expecting to wait a couple of days before I could actually move and Nick said he could be there the next morning! Whoa.
His crew Rod and Big E came were professional and sincere. They kept it cool even when one of my neighbors got a lil Crazy. These guys are pros, quick and nice.

1/3/2013 I could not have asked for a better experience. I was in a total bind, they came right away, were very professional, and got my whole apartment moved in an hour and a half. Everyone was extremely friendly. I have some more items I need to get moved in a couple weeks and I will be calling them for sure.

12/27/2012 We used Nick's team for move yesterday and they were fantastic.
We booked with Nick over email after reading the good reviews here. Nick writes short emails but gives you all the information you need. On the day of the move, the guys showed on time and well prepared. We used a three man team of Serpico, Rai and Eric. They were very experienced and professional. You can awe at their amazing feats of strength as they move your stuff from your current address to your new abode.

12/19/2012 I have moved twice with Nick at Safe Movers so far. He has an excellent work force, great attention to detail, punctual and decent rates. All of that is what you would expect for a good rating on yelp, but what makes his company stand out is the following:
He has many more people available to help than you would expect. This is HUGE. The ability to call in extra people to help with heavy items in the beginning of the move not only speeds up the move but makes it so you furniture is not damaged. So, its cheaper and faster and better.
What more could you ask for?
By contrast in Dallas, the moving company had 2 guys, who where very hard workers but it took 2 full days to do what Nick's company got done in around 6 hours. To top it all off, they are friendly don't waste time and do not complain.
I very highly recommend Safe Movers and will use them when I move again.

12/2/2012 Safe Movers came to my rescue when I needed them the most.
I had stored most of my belongings in a storage unit Oakland while purchasing a home. Late on a Saturday afternoon I received a call from the storage facility that there had been a major flood. I had a jam-packed unit and many boxes and furniture were sitting in water. I had no idea how I was going to go through the damaged items and move everything so late on a Saturday.
My friend called around to several moving companies and none were able to help with such short notice except safe movers. They were there within an hour and were absolutely amazing!
Nick began by asking me how I was doing, which was just what I needed. He and his crew began removing my things from the storage unit around 6:15 as my friends and I photographed the damage. The movers were very careful with my belongings, even items that were soaked and probably going to a dumpster. Nick even pointed out water damage I missed for me to photograph for my records.
By 9:00 Nick and his crew had me all moved from into my house in Alameda. I expected to pay through the nose for this last minute move and tremendous service, but my bill wound up being $385! I was astonished. Because of Safe Movers an evening that started out horribly ended quite well. If I ever need movers again, I know exactly who to call.

9/30/2012 I had to move from Truckee to Berkeley, CA and Safe Movers made it incredibly easy!
My plan was to do the move myself by renting a truck and driving to Truckee, hire help to load the truck in Truckee, drive to Berkeley and get help unload the truck. When I talked to Safe Movers, I was pleasantly surprised that they matched what it would cost to do it myself. I met Safe Movers in Truckee at 9:00 am on a Saturday and by 5:00 pm we were done. WOW! The guys were really friendly and the owner met us at the unloading of the truck and helped out. They even did a few extras for me.
Truly amazing! And to top it off I gave them very little notice. Everything was organized in less than a week.
I highly recommend them.

8/20/2012 Safe Movers did a great job for our small office move. They were very professional, showed up on time, and packed and moved everything without incident (including dismantling a bunch of cubicles and other furniture). They even hauled away a bunch of trash and junk at no extra charge.

8/14/2012 I usually dont post but they were so good to me i had to post this.
I had to move 2 bd with 2 bthroom full of stuff and stuff while I'm working full time as a single mom. Nick was so kind and on it from the day we connected. He came to give me an estimate which was way cheaper than any other movers I got estimate from (most of them even didn't come to look). He ended up giving a flat rate!!!! He stopped by later that day to drop off boxes seeing I totally under estimated how many boxes I needed to pack everything. He lend me huge wardrobe ones and sold me used box for almost nothing. He and his wife came by the day before to see how much I got my packing done to see how much more needed to be done, and how much labor it may actually take. On the actual moving date, Nick and his wife came earlier than appt time(8:30 ish to start at 9:00) along with 8 guys and one lady! I ended up not finishing all the packing but Nick made sure I don't do any more labor and his crew packed up the rest for me. All the guys were very cheery, hard working, polite, and super friendly. It totally made my what could have been a disaster move done by 1:00!!! Guys were so polite they even asked me if they can use my bathroom. After the move, Nick kept in touch to make sure everything went ok and if I needed anymore help. It didn't feel like he was trying to make any extra money but sincerely wanted to make sure my move was complete and wanted to help. He even came by to pick up things I needed to get rid of!!! I have moved so many times and used other movers but never been so impressed. I will for sure use them again if I'm moving against which will likely to happen.

They really do care about customer service. Nick was friendly and punctilious about keeping track of time on the clock. He was also very transparent about fees, so there were no nasty surprises. His crew worked at a good pace and helped me assemble my bed at the new place.

7/30/2012 I recently used Safe Movers for a move in Berkeley from a one bedroom to another one bedroom ten minutes away. They did an amazing job.
1) They were fast and efficient. Safe Movers provided me with a quote and said they would send over 3 movers. They ended up bringing 4 movers (at the same price). They quickly packed all of our furniture up and unloaded quickly too. They ended up completing the move in only 2 hours, saving us money.
2) They took care to wrap and pad all of our furniture. They were very diligent. Nothing was damaged or scratched.
3) They were friendly and easy to work with. All of the movers were very nice and professional too.
I definitely recommend Safe Movers.

7/15/2012 Nick is hands-down the BEST! If you never thought moving could be fun, you're wrong. And if you have a complicated move, never fear. Nick will put his mind to it and come up with a creative solution to even the most challenging situation.
His approach is unique, his prices are fair to the point of generosity, his crew was delightful, helpful and kind. We moved during the last 2 weeks of my maternity leave, and as hard as that was, Safe Movers made it as easy as it could have possibly been. I have used movers in the Bay Area at least 4 times, and knowing that I'll am going to have to move another time, I will never look for an alternative to Safe Movers again!

7/14/2012 Do not hesitate to call this company!
Few businesses and business owner's can give you the confidence to stop your search with just one phone call. Nick did this, and promised, then preformed with every aspect of the move.
The moving crew of Matt, Armando, and Mike pushed through the loading and unloading as if they were paying you. I have used my own employees to move before, and didn't have the same consistent pace and result experienced with this crew.
Even when it was your fault something was moved into the wrong room, every crew member grabbed what needed to be relocated, without a gripe or a grumble.
Their packing services were even better. They treated our stuff with care and respect.
With many movers, if you have nothing missing or broken when they leave, you consider it a good move. Expect more from Save Movers, because their standards must be at the top of the industry.

6/14/2012 Moving was always a traumatic event for us. In our previous move (from San Diego to Albany) the movers were supposed to arrive by 9:00 a.m., but eventually arrived only by 4:30 PM. Instead of three men and a truck we got two very tired men and a truck. Not to mention that they wanted double the amount we initially agreed on. So, we recently purchased a new home and were ready to relocate from our Albany apartment to our new Berkeley home. We received some moving quotes, but eventually decided to go with Nick from Safe Movers. Apparently we made a very good choice. Due to our busy schedules we also ordered packing service. The packers came a day before the move with all the necessary packing materials and quickly and efficiently packed most of our items. They did not charge for the packing materials and boxes, only for their time. The moving itself went ahead as planned. We received a wonderful team which included three wonderful enthusiastic men. Matt (the team leader) Jason and Dominic were great. They were very careful with our stuff and were very professional. Nick, the business owner was always around to make sure that everything will work as scheduled. He even offered free help with unpacking our stuff. We felt that they were more than fair with their time and rounded the time in our favor. I was surprise to get their final bill, as it was about 60% of competitors' offer. Thank you Safe Movers' team. It was a pleasant experience

6/12/2012 Nick and crew were recommended by a friend who had recently used them for a move. The recommendation was that they were affordable and careful. That worked for me and I booked them. Ok, let's address careful..they wrap the furniture! Seriously who does that for you any more, was Impressed. They also hauled this huge TV cabinet down a flight of stairs, impressed again. We arrived safe and sound in our new house with nothing broken and in what I thought was record time. You can not possibly go wrong hiring these folks. The best part was that it cost us less than I had expected, so a nice tip was in order :)

6/1/2012 These guys are great! They helped a co-worker and came highly recommended. They helped us move from San Rafael to El Cerrito and were incredibly fast and efficient while being careful with all our furniture. Helpful hint: pre-pack all your items in boxes, remove clothes from dressers, and be ready for them to show up on time. We got the whole job done in 3 hours!! Major compliments to Nick and his crew!

5/20/2012 These guys are amazing, and this review is long overdue!
Nick, the owner, personally delivered boxes to our apartment two days before the move. We were moving from Lake Merritt to Temescal, and I was amazed by the quality and swiftness. We were told it would take around 5 hours, but these guys got it done in 4!
All the movers were super friendly, hardworking, careful and kind. Nick works hard to ensure fair prices and customer satisfaction. I will never go back to trying to move ourselves.
You won't regret choosing these guys to help you move! Call them today, and tip well. They're worth it.

5/15/2012 After moving with Safe Movers for the SECOND time, we are just as impressed as the first time we used them! Fast, safe, listen to what you ask, and very kind! They care about your home and your furniture! They wrap your furniture with either blankets or wrap so it does not get scratched or damaged! Worth it to hire them, especially with a two story home! Sy and Elmer always work with us very well! Highly recommended, not super expensive, and get you moved into your new place FAST!!!

4/29/2012 We recently moved intra-Oakland, Down Town Lakeside to Temescal. The crew of 3 movers plus Nick (who we got for free on this one) moved things amazingly fast. In about 4 hours they moved our 1 bedroom apartment which included a king size bed, several tables, 3 book shelves + the books, a dresser, a bunch of pots & pans, dishes, clothes, 2 bikes, garden supplies, about 10 paintings, a full sized keyboard, etc. etc.
As far as quality and price, you can't get much better. The entire ordeal (not including boxes) cost $400 before tip. They provided all the tape and blankets to protect our furniture and threw in a few garment boxes for free. Everyone was super dependable and friendly. Nick gave us very straight answers about price estimates and there were no hidden charges.
I will definitely call them up again next time I move.

I helped my friends move some boxes and odds and ends, even though they also hired Safe Movers.These guys were super hard workers, super friendly and super nice.They were polite, courteous and accommodating.Solid work ethics and strong teamwork.What makes this company stand out is that it uses a specific group or team with a team leader so they are familiar with each other and they know how to work together successfully.That detail alone made a HUGE difference in their work performance.If I had to move, I would hire these guys in a heartbeat. Nothing broke during the move and the furniture was carefully wrapped in blankets,plastic wrap and tape. These guys were easy to work with and very conscientious of what they were doing.I could tell they cared about their work and they cared about giving excellent customer service. They were everything their website promised and more! What is missing from a lot of today's companies is that most employees don't care about their work and they don't care about customer service, but these movers exuded pride in their work. This kind of work ethic reminded me of the good ol' days when mom-and-pop-type-businesses really poured their hearts and souls into delivering exemplary service and really cared about their customers. This company is just like that! Ask for Matthew's team, you won't be disappointed! They make moving easy and enjoyable--what a concept! They nailed it! They even offered to rearrange furniture around once it was in the new house (you know how it is when you move and you just want to get things unloaded and you don't know where to put everything yet? Well, they offered to help move furniture around if it wasn't in the right spot yet). Awesome! So nice and professional! THANK YOU!! Safe Movers ROCK!!! 11/16/2011 Safe Movers was the best moving experience we have had. They were right on time and were very quick when it came to wrapping up our furniture and fragile items and had us moved over to our new place within a couple hours. There were plenty of hand and the owners were even there helping out too.
I will recommend them to anyone who I know is moving in the area. Customer service is so hard to find now, especially in the moving business and they exceeded any expectation we had!

If you are fortunate enough to be in the service area, you'll will be awe'd and dazzled.
They are punctial, wrap everything, handle with care, extremely fast and experienced and they actually genuinely care about your needs and your belongings.
The prices are more than fair, these guys are my one and only movers from here on out!!!!

11/12/2011 I called safe movers last minute after another moving company I contracted with left me high and dry a week before my move. Safe Movers were recommended by a friend who had a great experience, and they did not disappoint. Nick emailed me back right away and sent Matthew & Dom to move me from Fremont to San Ramon. Matthew & Dom were not only friendly, polite, & careful with my belongings, but they worked without a break moving me into a third floor apartment-NO ELEVATOR-during a heat wave in a matter of hours. They even insisted on staying and making sure all my furniture was exactly where I wanted it and the fee was BELOW the estimate. Not a single thing was broken and I felt like i'd been treated like a queen. Don't waste your time with anyone else-Safe Movers is your best bet.

9/3/2011 These guys were amazing, bionic strong, fast, courteous, and very careful. They carefully wrapped every piece of our antique furniture. The truck was full to the top, moving us from Berkeley to Santa Rosa. The two guys worked hard from early morning 'till long after dark, yet never stopped smiling. Nothing got broken. Their price was way below several estimates we'd gotten from other movers... and they gave us several free boxes, too. We are very happy and grateful that we found Safe Movers.

I've moved a lot and used a lot of moving companies. These guys are by far the BEST MOVING COMPANY I've EVER used.
They are so affordable and the work they do goes above and beyond other moving companies. They start their work clock when they actually start to move your stuff, they wrapped all of my fragile furniture pieces with out me asking them, they were SO QUICK and EFFICIENT with only two guys (better then any company before with 4 guys or more!) and they asked if I needed help at the end moving some of the heavier pieces around in my new place.
This is a start up company that is the best in it's class already and everyone who is involved in this company are truly great people. You won't use another company after this. Thanks for reading!

6/27/2011 Elmer and Sy were fantastic helping me with a long distance move. Their price was exceptional and most importantly their communication with me during every step of the move was perfect. I received text message updates as to their progress frequently, and my stuff arrived on time in excellent condition. On top of that, they're good guys. This company is awsome. I gave them a last-minute call last Sunday and asked if they can help me with my moving due to the unexpected cancellation of my last appointment. They tried all their best to come over to help me despite the last minute call. Even though I just needed to move into the next building in the same complex, they were very professional, efficient and cooperative. Also, the price is reasonable. I want to say thank you for their help and would definitely commend them to others.

Safe Movers is a moving company that you can feel safe and secure about. Trust me when I say these can be hard to come by. Sy quickly responded to my initial request for a move, gave me a fair price, and delivered with the utmost professionalism. His crew were extremely patient and friendly. They offered to take a break (off the clock) because we weren't ready for them which just made me feel comfortable right off the bat. They take their time ensuring nothing gets damaged but still work quickly and efficiently. Don't hesitate to book these gentleman.

These movers were incredible !! My move was in the middle of Jan.
I thought about going with cheaper movers but I was glad that I didn't. Now I understand what professional movers do. They did as their ad stated, they efficiently, quickly and safely moved my personal possessions on to a large moving truck. Then artistically package the truck so that wall separate the most delicate items and all the space was utilized to a premium.
I had a 3 bedroom house and I was scared to death that there would have to be two trips made basically doubling the cost of the move. They assured me that they could fit it effectively in their 24 ft truck. They were right.
My last move, I hired guys that were slow and would barely carry one box at a time down the stairs. These Safe Movers guys would stack 3 to 4 boxes at once. Never drop, scratched, or damaged a single item in the entire move.
They gave me 20 boxes to use, that saves me $80 right off the bat. They arrived 10 minutes early. They finished the job 1 1/2 hours faster than the crew that I had originally moved me into my prior house.
Don't mess around searching if you need to do a move in the Bay Area use these guys you want you will not be sorry.
Sy Wali the owner Safe Movers has had many years of experience in this industry. Customer satisfaction seem to be his hot button. He wanted to make sure at every stage that things were going the way I thought they should go.
Its nice to deal with the owner instead of a hired low dollar crew that may not really have the work ethic of professionals.
Overall, I probably saved $200+ over the last move even though the other companies rate was initially lower. Also, this move was not a hassele they made it almost trouble free. As easy as a move can be of course..
Great service at a affordable price. Who can argue with that?

First time I've had to use a moving service. I scored! The name of the company says it all. All my furniture and fragile items were moved carefully. A plus, the movers- Sy and Mike were great! They showed up on time and got everything done in a timely manner. They were personable and easy to work with. I would recommend them to anyone.

I tried out Safe Movers Promotional Program; they told me that they would supply all the boxes that I needed to make my move. Well I have 2 closets full of clothing. I needed 5 wardrobe boxes and 30 regular boxes.
To my surprise 5 days before the move Sy showed up at my door with 35 boxes and a roll of tape for free. We discuss the particulars of my move and questions regarding fragile items that needed special attention. Glass art work. We spent about 45 mins. In this discussion and then I gave him a $50 deposit for the upcoming move.
They called the day prior to confirm that they would be on schedule, they arrived 10 mins. early. They came in introduced themselves and within 5 mins. were like an army of 2 moving those boxes out like there was a drill sergeant behind them. This was amazing to me. My perception of most movers is that they drag their feet and take their sweet time. Not these guys, they had everything backed up and on the truck in 3 hours. Incredible for a 2 1/2 bedroom stuffed with delicate furniture and art work.
The unloading was as uneventful as the morning. The crew manager told me that they needed a 20 min. lunch break and that that would be off the clock. They kept to the time schedule and busted their butts until everything was unloaded.
This was a fabulous move for me. I moved from Marin to Berkeley I was wondering what the difference in services would be in the East Bay . Was I ever surprised by the professional work ethic of this crew and Sy the owner / manager.
My hat is off to you guys thanks for making this move incredible smooth and easy.
BTW there were no extra hidden charges, they used shrink wrap and pads to protect my furniture and everything went just as discussed in the pre-move meeting. The boxes saved me about $130. When I was done with them they dropped buy to pick up the broken down boxes and I didn't have to deal with that mess.
I owe these guys a bottle of champagne, my husband left me in charge of the move. He said that I knocked it out of the park. Whatever that means LOL..
